MUJI Room Service Robot and a smart speaker for the MUJI Hotels. The design language was inspired by the iconic wall mounted MUJI CD Player that came out in 1999. I focused on how to modernize this identical design by bringing subtle curves and engraving the technology we have today. Hope to create a friendly, comfy, and "like-home" experience.
Smart Hotels
Recent years, there are more and more hotels start to integrate with artificial intelligence, such as smart speaker, room service robot, etc. But all of these products are currently designed and manufactured by third party company with different style. It is reasonable for MUJI, A company that is specialize at home products and electronic to come up a robot design that echoes with their own MUJI Hotels.
Look & Feel
MUJI products are being used everywhere. The whole space is using warm colors and natural materials. Comfy, relaxing, friendly are the key aspects
Define Curvature
The inspiration is the iconic wall mounted MUJI CD Player from 1999. I tried different kinds of curvature to modernize it. I changed the original center CD slot into a touch screen to fit with the current technology.
User Scenario
